Looking Out for Each Other

At The Cridge Seniors’ Services, community shows up in the little moments of everyday life. This summer, one of those moments served as a beautiful reminder of how much we care for each other here.

One evening at dinner, a resident got up from the table, saying she had forgotten something in her room. When she didn’t come back, her tablemate quickly noticed. Instead of brushing it off, she let our staff know right away. That small act made all the difference.

Our team paused what they were doing and began searching the building. Before long, they found the missing resident in an out-of-the-way hallway, experiencing a medical emergency. Thanks to her friend’s quick concern and our staff’s swift response, she received the help she needed in time. Small acts of care can make a life-changing difference, and we’re both relieved and thankful to share the resident is okay.

Sarah Smith, Manager of Seniors’ Services, reflected on this event and shared: “This stood out to me as such a lovely example of the community we have here – looking out for each other, speaking up when needed, and taking care of each other.”

Moments like these capture the heart of The Cridge Centre: we look out for one another. Neighbours notice when something doesn’t seem right. Staff step in without hesitation. And together, we create a community where no one is overlooked.

These acts of care may seem small, but they build something extraordinary. Whether it’s a shared meal, a friendly word in the hallway, or a watchful eye at the dinner table, these are the threads that weave us into a family. At The Cridge, seniors find more than housing; they find belonging, connection, and people who truly care.
