Join our society
The Cridge Centre for the Family desires to stay true to the vision and principles of its original founders. We are a Christ-centred organization with a heart to relieve suffering to all who are vulnerable or oppressed in our communities today. The people we serve include survivors of acquired brain injuries and their families, seniors, families raising children with complex needs, women and children escaping relationship violence, young parents, immigrant and refugee families, and children.
We welcome Christian men and women who desire to partner with us in both action and prayer. We encourage new members, both individuals and businesses alike, who are eager to get acquainted with our society to contact us for further information.
Prospective members will be involved in a process of nomination and acceptance by the Board. We guarantee that if your heart is “to lighten the load of your fellow citizens,” participation with The Cridge Centre will be fulfilling.
Our Purpose
Consistent with the principles taught by Jesus Christ and seeking to manifest His love, we commit to rendering aid and service to children, adults and families by:
- Providing childcare to children in the community through supervised, structured programs to help their personal development, and to advance education by operating programs and activities;
- Assisting women and children who have experienced family violence and abuse move from crisis and instability to self-sufficiency, personal safety and stability by providing them with support programs such as transitional housing, counselling, support groups, and access to other community services;
- Relieving poverty by providing low and moderate-income families and those who are poor or needy with affordable housing and with programs to support them with life necessities;
- Promoting health and wellbeing by providing respite services and resources to families of children with disabilities;
- Promoting health and wellbeing by providing survivors of braininjury with housing and other support services to enable them to achieve their highest possible level of independent living, including assistance in daily tasks, health management, skills training, employment opportunities, and community involvement;
- Relieving conditions attributable to being aged by providing specially adapted residential accommodation, incidental facilities, and support to seniors;
- Providing youth in need who are young parents or at risk of homelessness with supports, mentoring and resources including counseling and advocacy to ensure their basic needs are met and to enable them to pursue education, employment and safe affordable housing;
- Undertaking activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purposes.
Statement of Faith
We accept the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the written revelation of the one true and living God who is infinitely perfect both in His love and His holiness. We believe the scriptures contain all things necessary for salvation, and confess the faith as therein set forth and as summarized in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen
