Hi Listeners, Happy October. Imagine not being able to see the beautiful fall colours? For some brain injury survivors this is an unfortunate reality. A head injury can cause or alter colour blindness by damaging the brain areas responsible for color perception. While most cases of colour blindness are genetic, brain damage from injuries, tumors, or other conditions can lead to cerebral achromatopsia or dyschromatopsia. This acquired color vision deficiency means a person sees colors differently than before their injury, or a previously colorblind person might see colors more clearly. Today we talk about the perception of colours and how it affects brain injury survivors.
