Mary Cridge Manor
Independent Living for Survivors of Brain Injury
The primary goal of Mary Cridge Manor is to provide independent housing with support for survivors of brain injury. The building is situated in an ideal location and is within walking distance of public transportation, amenities, and downtown. The building has eight units dedicated to transitional living with support for survivors of brain injury; individuals may stay for up to three years while working through a three-phase rehabilitative program.
Supports at MCM are individualized and can include:
- Life skills training
- Meal planning and preparation support
- Interpersonal skills training
- Personal finances/budgeting support
- Leisure planning
- Vocational assistance
- Crisis intervention
- Scheduling/planning/organization support
- Counselling/Life Coaching
- Building a sustainable network of support
As each person gains independence in their daily living, new goals are established, and support levels are adjusted.
Although Mary Cridge Manor is a structured rehabilitation program, it feels like a “neighbourhood in a box.” Through continuous opportunities for social engagements, outings, and events in the building, our residents come to forge caring and meaningful friendships with one another and the other tenants who are part of other Cridge programs. The friendships established have carried forward into the community when tenants have moved.
