I have been a member of The Cridge Centre Society for about a dozen years now. I had been aware of a place called “The Cridge” that helped people in many ways. I was kind of overwhelmed to find out all the things that The Cridge Centre for the Family does. So many programs, helping so many people; I couldn’t keep them all straight! And I loved hearing how The Cridge Centre had begun: a few families who loved God, noticing a need in their community and deciding to do something about it.
The only thing that made me hesitate to become a member was wondering how I could help. The organization seemed like a well-oiled machine, and I didn’t feel like I had any gifts that I could contribute. The president of the board had said that they really need a core of people who support The Cridge Centre for the Family and pray faithfully for it. I signed up. Since then, I have been on the roster of prayer walkers. Perhaps three or four times a year, another member and I meet at The Cridge Centre and spend an hour or two walking around the grounds and praying for every aspect that we can possibly think of.
I have attended annual society gatherings, been invited to special events, and have become so much more educated on a wide variety of topics. I have met wonderful people, been treated like royalty, and given incredible, memorable opportunities. It has always felt to me like I have gotten far more out of this society than I have put into it!
At almost every event, there’s a presentation about some aspect of the programs and services. At almost every one of those presentations, I’m moved to tears by the clear display of God’s heart of compassion poured out through the incredible people who are staff. The lost are found, the hurting are comforted, the despairing are given hope, the weary are lifted up, the fearful are sheltered.
When you become a member of The Cridge Centre Society, you become a witness. Society members witness the work that is done here, and they tell about it. Their posture is one of full support for this place. They believe it is important work, they are glad that it is happening, and they want to be a part of lifting it up and carrying on the work.
The work goes on here every day through the amazing staff and the board and the volunteers. If you are convinced that this work is important and you want to support it, The Cridge Centre Society is the right place for you.
