Q1: Where are you located?
The Cridge Village Seniors’ Centre is located in the beautifully restored BC Protestant Orphan’s Home, built in 1893. The building underwent a massive renovation in 2005 and is up to current fire and earthquake codes. Our Seniors’ Centre is located on 13 acres and all the amenities you need are close by.
Q2: What services do you provide?
The Cridge Village Seniors’ Centre offers one-bedroom (both Assisted and Independent Living) and two-bedroom (Independent Living only) suites as well as common-use spaces: a Ground Lounge used for large events/concerts, an activity room, smaller lounges for social interactions or reading pleasure, a chapel/theatre, a computer room with Internet access (and someone to teach/assist you while using it); therapeutic bathtub, and an exercise room. Our hallways and suites are designed to accommodate all mobility challenges.
We offer an extensive Recreation Program with so many things to do! You can get as involved as you like in art, games, exercise classes, carpet bowling, book clubs, multiple weekly outings, and Friday happy hour. Our recreation staff are always open to your ideas. Here is the current Recreation Calendar.
We do weekly light housekeeping for all of our residents (Independent and Assisted Living). This includes vacuuming and mopping the floors, cleaning external kitchen surfaces, bathroom cleaning, and changing linens and towels.
Q3: What meals do you provide for the residents of The Cridge Village Seniors’ Centre?
We know how important delicious food is! Our CCC-certified Executive Chef and his team work hard to source local, organic, and fresh food to include in the seasonal menu. Lunch includes homemade soup, a main entree, and dessert. Dinner often includes two delicious choices of an entree and a dessert daily. In addition to the available menu, there is always a choice of fresh sandwiches and salads available as an alternative. Here is our current menu.
Q4: Do you have a video of the suites you offer and common areas?
Take a closer look at our one- and two-bedroom suites as well as common areas.
Q5: Do you have the option of a subsidized suite?
We offer 38 Assisted Living one-bedroom suites through the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health). For information on eligibility for this program please visit Island Health assisted living options.
Q6: How much does an Independent Living Suite cost per month?
As of April 1, 2023 the price of Independent Living suites varies from $2725 – $4080. An additional $500 is charged for a second resident in applicably-sized suites.
Q7: Do you have a personal alarm system for residents?
An emergency response system is available 24/7 through a pendant alarm (can be worn as a bracelet or a necklace). Activation of a pendant alarm notifies staff in the building to come and assist a client in need.
Q9: Where can I apply for an Independent Living suite?
You can find the Seniors’ Independent Living application here. Please note an application does not secure residency; there is an interview and selection process.
Q10: I would like to visit my family member at The Cridge Village Seniors’ Centre
On September 12, 2021, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry introduced new guidelines for Visitors in Long-Term Care and Seniors’ Assisted Living homes.
Visitors must show their BC Vaccine Card (QR code or equivalent) as well as personal identification when signing in, even if only to pass through the facility to access an outdoor space. For more information, visit our COVID-19 updates page.
Child visitors (including teens) are expected to be under the supervision of an adult at all times. We expect that the right to safety, privacy and quiet of all residents will be respected by each visitor and disruptions may result in their being asked to leave.
Q11: Can I bring a dog to a visit with me?
While dog visitors are welcome, they must be kept on a short leash at all times and will be asked to leave if they cause any disruption. Animal visitors are also not permitted to be in or walk through any food service areas.
Q13: Do you have a guest suite?
We have a lovely Guest Suite for our residents’ friends and family that is booked on a First Come-First Served basis. Unfortunately, it is currently unavailable due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
